What We Treat

Peptic ulcer are ulcers that occur in the lining of any part of the gastrointestinal tract. These ulcers are not normally dangerous, however, they are very painful and can occasionally be cancerous. Over-the-counter medicines can alleviate the symptoms but will not solve the problem—medical intervention is required. The ulcers also have a tendency to recur, and may be caused by H. Pylori, so it's important to obtain an accurate diagnosis from one of our AGA specialists.

Symptoms

  • Heartburn
  • Indigestion
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation

Treatment

Your GI doctor will determine if the H. Pylori bacteria is the cause of the ulcers and prescribe antibiotics to solve the problem. For ulcers not caused by H. Pylori, your doctor may recommend an over-the-counter PPI (like Prilosec) to help reduce your symptoms and will outline a treatment plan to heal the ulcer. Make an appointment today for a diagnosis by one of our specialists and get some relief.
