Description of Staff Positions
Clinical Research Assistant:
Responsible for interaction with sponsors and CROs, Study Coordination and other research related duties.
Endoscopy Assistant:
Responsible for providing professional nursing care for Endo Center patients following established standards and practices. Assists Physicians in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians.
Endoscopy Technician:
Clean and disinfect endoscopes and accessories according to protocol. Prepare accessory equipment for sterilization and performs sterilization. Document the cleaning disinfecting processes and quality control measures daily, monthly, quarterly, ect. as required. Document the cleaning disinfecting processes of all equipment. Assist with quality improvement activities related to equipment and the environment.
Histopathology Technician:
Access specimens, process, embed, cut and stain tissues common to GI pathology labs. Coverslip stained sections, verify that the staining shows adequate cellular distinction, and label the slide. Assure specimen labeling requirements are met and the necessary clinical information is entered into the CoPath software system. Select and maintain appropriate tissue blocks to serve as controls for special stains and to appropriately select and prepare special stains. Monitor quality control results and take appropriate action when controls are unacceptable. Monitor and maintain appropriate supplies and to control inventory.
Medical Assistant:
Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the office services.
Patient Account Representative:
Gathers charge information, enters into database, completes billing process, distributes billing information. To process unpaid accounts by contacting patients and third-party reimbursers. Assigns uncollectible accounts to collection agency. Responsible for processing and filing insurance claims. To assure insurance payments for procedures by obtaining approval from the insurance company prior to the procedure date. Responsible to check patient out. Reconcile payments due. Verify data on encounter form. Key in charges and payments. Print receipt for patient. Balance charges and payments entered into the system. Ability to run and balance with reports.
Receptionist:
Responsible for greeting patients and families upon arrival and obtaining all pertinent information regarding the patient's visit.
Scheduler:
Responsible for making and scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner.
Transcriptionist:
Responsible for transcription of patient medical information and other assigned typing duties using transcribing and word-processing equipment. Coordinates, distributes, files output.
